Angelina Jolie Meet on Afghanistan Refugees
U.S. movie star Angelina Jolie has made a surprise visit for two days to Afghanistan to meet with refugees in war-torn country, the UN refugee agency reported on Wednesday (2 / 3).
Angelina, star of films like MR & MRS SMITH and also the goodwill ambassador to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has spent two days to meet with refugees, after which he called for more and more done to integrate it into the exiled former Afghan society .
As many as 5.5 million more people have returned to Afghanistan since 2002, years after the Taliban was overthrown by US-led invasion, according to UNHCR. Most of them fled to Pakistan and Iran, and their return has increased the country's population of about 20%, it describes the refugee agency.
Today there are about 140,000 international troops in Afghanistan, the US-led fight against Taliban guerrillas.
"The center of attention now needs to be given to the integration of back and that means not only provide protection, but make sure there is water, employment opportunities, schools for children and health clinics," Angelina said in a statement issued by UNHCR at the end of his visit.
Angelina, who live together with fellow movie star Brad Pitt, famous for his humanitarian work. Visits today is the second for Angelina Jolie to Afghanistan, where he arrived on Monday (28 / 2). (Between / bun)
